Wild Card - directed by Eliza
Right, now the member of the month, once Wild Card has been opened a month and is up and running, is decided by various things. The first thing: Activity. A member must be active with the site, meaning they come on at least once or twice every other day to check posts and reply to the people they're posting with. Two: they're involved with what's going on with the site. That means anything out of character or in character. If there's a change going on, they're giving feedback on it, or if we've started a poll for opinions on something, they've voted and replied, etc., etc. Over all just being involved. Thirdly: They're kind and respectful to the other players in OOC, the one that can be viewed by everyone. That includes the Cbox, the game board, and anything in the OOC categories. They're also willing to help members or guests that have questions if the admins aren't online to do it themselves
"We can not simply be in the middle of nowhere because a closet must be in a house, or at least a building, of some sort. We obviously must be somewhere. If you could just manage to get us out of here, we would be able to find out just where in the hell we are." –Sweeney Todd
Like the man said, everyone must obviously be somewhere at some point in time, you can’t just be no where, it’s impossible.
Regardless of which continent you rested on, which country you called your home, you were somewhere.
Were, that is. I say ‘were’ because that would mean it was your previous place of residence. Obviously you’re not there now if you don’t recognize the old-fashioned Victorian furnishing, the high ceilings, fancy carpets and patterned wall papers. But just how you got here is completely unknown to you.
Really, nobody has any logical explanation. You were simply taken from your story, wherever you existed, and placed somewhere inside (or outside) the house. If you’re lucky, you landed near someone else in your same predicament, and if you’re luckier, you befriended them.
Some would call it the twist of fate, a wild card that’s thrown into a card game at the last minute to totally throw it off the course it had been taking, possibly in your favor.
Either way, you can’t leave. Don’t try, you won’t succeed. So you may as well get to know the other residents and have fun while you’re at it. They’re not that bad, and the house is beautiful (as well as its grounds), so why not just relax and put that old world behind you?
Step into the world of Wild Card. Humans from eras you didn’t know existed, talking animals, and one large and enchanted house.

(OOC: Reserved for Christine.)
Lyra walked up the stairs of the house, with Pan still perched on her shoulder. She gazed around her, taking in the elegant furnishings and expensive nature of the manor. She did not think that she would ever be able to get used to the fact that she was now going to stay in a house such as this. Mrs. Coulter's house didn't even measure up at all.
Eventually, she came to a split in the stairs. She could go one of four ways, and she decided to go up the staircase which led east. As she headed up the staircase, she noticed something shiny lying a few steps in front of her. "Pan?" she asked. "What is that?"
Pan swooped off her shoulder and picked the shiny object up with his sharp beak. He flew back over to Lyra and deposited it into Lyra's waiting hands. "It's...a key," he said unnecessarily as Lyra turned it over in her hands. "And it has your name on it."
"Christine?" Lyra turned to the other woman. "Do you think this would open the door to the room you were talking about?"

Christine followed, examining the large house as she did so. She'd often done this, finding that her curiosity would get the better of her and she would always attempt to observe, and each time the house never left her unsatisfied. She always found something new to examine on each minor exploration she took.
The stair case was something that she saw everyday, considering she always came this way to return to her room, but she had never bothered to scrounge up enough nerve to take one of the other stairs and examine the name plates of other residents. It was a stupid thing to be afraid of. What if Erik was here, but simply in another wing of the house? She doubted that he would leave his bedroom, so she would have to go find him. Perhaps she would go look later, but it was highly doubtful. Christine wasn't one that liked to wander around large, unusual manors by herself. She was lucky she'd even stirred up enough 'courage' (if you could call it that) to walk around the house to find her room to begin with.
At hearing her name, she looked over, her interest having been sparked. Carefully she walked over and examined the key that had been placed in her hand. A small smile came to her features.
"Yes, that would be the key. Now we simply have to find the room," she stated, her voice trailing off slightly as she began down the hallway, searching each name plate for the familiar name.

Lyra and Pan followed Christine, both looking over the name plates as well. "Lucy Carrigan, Veralidaine Sarrasri...Ellie Roma, Lyra Belacqua. Oh!" Lyra cried, stopping in front of the door which bore her name and another name on it. "Here it is. Who is...Ellie Roma, do you reckon?" She shrugged, and without waiting for an answer, inserted the key she had found into the hole in the door.
"You know," Pan suggested as Lyra worked the key, "you ought to thread a piece of string or rope through that and wear it around your neck. I mean, you might lose it otherwise."
Lyra nodded. What Pan said had merit. "That's a good idea," she uttered. "Maybe there'll be rope inside this room."
However, when Lyra opened the door, she was not greeted with rope or any sort. Rather, she was greeted with what looked like the institution at Bolvangar, where people were cutting children and daemons away. She froze, unwilling to go in.

Christine stopped as the name was stated. Lyra Belacqua, which that obviously held the name 'Lyra' so it was blatantly apparent that this would be the room that she was to stay in. A small smile crept onto Christine's face in anticipation. Ellie Roma?
"I have never heard the name in my life," she shrugged. "But apparently she is going to be your roommate."
She blinked as the door was opened, peering in cautiously. Well, what on earth? That room looked fairly normal if you would ask Christine. Just what had sparked the house to produce a house that wasn't brightly painted or obnoxiously decorated? And why couldn't she have received this room instead of that blasted orange one that constantly made her head throb?
"Well, it seems... casual enough, don't you think? It is nothing like the rest of the rooms that I have had a chance to see." She smirked and continued looking into the room, her hands placed on her hips. "I would say that you are one of the luckier of the residents for receiving a room that is not cluttered and crazy with things that... one may have no idea what they are."
